Information is most valuable input in this new millennium for every sector. Therefore, the accurate and timely information is needed for correct decision making process in percent era since globalization, privatization, and liberation of the market. Access to information is a crucial requirement for sustainability of agriculture sector as well as industrial sector. It will help in sharing and cooperating information among interested parties with mutual understanding could bring the sustainable agricultural productivity and fair trade balancing the supply and demand.

  Challenges in the agriculture sector will make the appropriate farm information because crucial input of profitable farming under the information world is accurate and timely information. Therefore, modern ICT becomes most important powerful tool to fulfill the information requirement of the agriculture sector. Moreover, the ICT should be major form of agriculture technology dissemination under the existing competition world to compete with the quickly growing industrial and service sector.

   The traditional agriculture extension and transfer of technology would be shifted by ICT. It is being identified as cyber extension. Near future it would be the major form of technology dissemination system of the agriculture sector. Therefore, the policy makers of the developing countries like Sri Lanka should pay attention to employ the ICT in transferring of agricultural technology for benefit of the small scale rural farmers.
